This week Year 10 English embarked on a new documentary film study of Banksy Does New York. To get the boys talking about the enigma who is Banksy, Ms Hinkley and Ms Mackey took their classes on a walk through some of Banksy鈥檚 iconic images. It was exciting to hear the different classes hotly debating the merits of the images, the politics of art as well as whether harvesters can really be consumers of art.
Banksy Does New York is a 2014 HBO documentary directed by Chris Moukarbel, focusing on Banksy鈥檚 鈥淏etter Out Than In鈥� series during his month-long residency in New York in October 2013. The film showcases a daily reveal of new artworks through Banksy鈥榮 Instagram, including a cement sphinx, a truck of puppet farm animals touring New York meat markets, and paintings sold in Central Park for $60 that were later valued in the hundreds of thousands.
