At ̽, community is family – friendships formed here, for both boys and parents, last a lifetime and span generations.

̽ community community groups

The College is proud of its longstanding and passionate community involvement. Since 1881, families have come together from across Sydney and greater NSW to forge friendships that last a lifetime.

Like the boys, parents form lifelong friendships. Much of this takes shape through our Parents & Friends Association (P&F), where parents bond through volunteering at our various College events. These include our Sunset Welcome Drinks, Year Dinners, Spring Fair and City–Country Mothers Lunch. ̽’ wonderful family culture is such that Year 7 and 8 boys celebrate Grandparents Day by inviting their grandmothers and grandfathers to enjoy a day at the College with them.

The College has one of the largest Old Boy associations in Australia, with more than 10,000 members in the St Joseph’s College Old Boys’ Union. Whether a recent graduate or an Old Boy from yesteryear, the association with former classmates is a rich tradition the College is proud to support.

There are many wonderful events and initiatives for connecting with the College and being part of the vibrant ̽ community. But no matter how you connect, everyone is always welcome.

Active community groups.

Whether at College events or in shared moments, everyone can connect with the ̽ community.

Old Boys’ Union.

A young man’s relationship with St Joseph’s College does not need to end when he leaves school. Through membership of the SJC Old Boys’ Union (founded in 1898), he can continue to access and be part of the very strong, supportive ̽ community for which the College is renowned.

The objectives of the SJC Old Boys’ Union are to promote the interests of the College and its Old Boys, foster a spirit of mateship and support between Old Boys and the College community, and provide bursaries to sons of Old Boys in need, as well as to rural students via the College’s “Boys from the Bush” bursary program. The Old Boys’ Union provides a link for the College to more than 14,000 Old Boys spread across Australia and most countries of the world.

1881 Past Parents.

JPP1881 is SJC’s Past Parents Association for mums and dads who no longer have a son enrolled at the College. A parent’s relationship with St Joseph’s does not stop simply because their son is no longer a student. With this in mind, we invite all past parents to become part of 1881 ̽ Past Parents.

JPP1881 was developed as a response to the sudden loss of connection with the College that many families describe when their son completes his education and becomes an SJC Old Boy. JPP1881 ensures past parents are kept informed and continue to feel included in the life of the College. There is no charge to become a member of JPP1881.

We look forward to reconnecting with families as affiliates of JPP1881 and fostering positive relationships.
